Roatan Island has over 132 dive and snorkeling sites which are listed on a chart on this link. Even though Roatan has a lot of dive sites, there are at least 25 sites that are readily accessible to tourists. Weather rarely affects diving on the entire island. Generally speaking, the northwest side of the island is protected most of the year from the normal southeast trade winds except for the short rainy season in December and January.
Even in December and January, the West End area and northern side may be calm and enjoy excellent diving conditions. If wind conditions or weather becomes and issue, the dive operators and resorts will simply move their boats to the "lee side" of the island and calmer waters. Thus, when planning your diving vacation, you should not need to worry about the weather. Article courtesy of roatanisland.net. Visit here to read complete page.
