Sharing similar ideology with the Democrats in the USA, the Honduran Liberal party is very much "for the
people". This is great for bringing much needed reforms to the country and
should help out the less fortunate even more so. Taxation, land ownership,
healthcare, education, and security will all be addressed. New laws put into
effect, old laws modified and some completely tossed out, will be the focus of
this administration over the next 4 years...
We are encouraged that here on the Islands the Liberals have also won both the Bay Islands seat in Congress (Mr. Jerry Hynds, Diputado...former Roatan Mayor) as well as the coveted Mayor of Roatan (Alcalde) positions (Mr. Dale Jackson). This means that Tegucigalpa, where the Governmental offices are located, should be a bit more willing to listen to us from accross the pond.
Does it affect property
values in any way??? Time will tell. With Royal Caribbean buying the Roatan
cruise ship terminal for a reported $19M USD this guy is banking on some major
tourist traffic over the next decade. That means buck up soon if you want to
beat the land grab that is sure to come. Delta Airlines is scheduled to start
their non-stop service from it's hub in Atlanta to Roatan sometime in March.
More tourists = more property sales = more demand for product = higher prices.
It's quite simple and this formula has repeated itself in almost every tourist
spot all over the globe....
