While sitting at home, looking out over the Caribbean Sea, listening to the waves splash on the beach, talking to my wife in Canada from my bluetooth headset, on my global cell phone, while I type an instant message via WIFI Internet to her on my mac I truly realize that Roatan has come a long way in a very short period of time.
When we first came here in 1998 to live full time, there was hardly powerful enough Marine radio to speak to someone from one side of the Island to the another. West Bay road was less than 10 feet wide in a lot of places...dirt, mud and dust...it would take me 15 minutes or more to drive to West End....
I remember when only 14 full time residents lived in West Bay. Now there's close to 300! And cell phones...and wireless internet...and satellite TV...and telephone land lines to our homes...and now...satellite radio!! Sirious is hear! (pardon the pun).
How can we live in Paradise...and still have all the creature comforts? What more could you ask for? Elect to stay connected....or not. It's up to you.
Boating, fishing, diving, hiking, snorkling, sea creatures, land creatures, tropical birds, 84 degree salt water, facinating monkeys, mild seasons...I could go on and on and on.
We are all truly blessed. Thanks to the Almighty Lord!
Cheers.
