You just never know who's going to walk through your front door when you need it
most. RE/MAX Agents Alan and Tammy Thompson came to the Island in March to check things out before deciding to move down permanently. During their brief visit, my wife Shelley mentioned some of the work she is doing with the various charities on the Island....and as it turned out, Alan had contacts in the NYC fire department....and VOILA!! Boxes of much needed "used" fire gear was enroute to Roatan!!.....
Dropping off the boxes of boots, jackets, helmets and gloves were Montreal Bob, Alan and Tammy Thompson, Henrik Jensen and myself...all from RE/MAX Bay Islands....(who picked up the shipping tab).
And there's more, Alan says....lots more. It seems many government agencies, including fire stations, replace their equipment on a regular basis and need a place to
donate the used stuff.... And there's maybe no better place than developing Roatan Island!! The chief and his guys were so happy to recieve the donated equipment, they couldn't stop thanking us and definately said they could use all we could get them.
The next shipment should be here in January so we're anxiously waiting to help again. If you know of anything useful that we could drop off for you here...please contact me and we would be more than happy to help out with the duties and shipping....
