Roatan Electric Company (RECO) now officially has a new owner... 
Kelcy Warren.. a US based billionaire who made his fortunes in natural gas, has acquired 52% of the floundering utility and has plans to revamp the entire plant and transmission lines. Speaking with Matthew Harper, RECO's new GM, and master electrician, West Bay has already been connected to the Henry Morgan Resort grid... meaning more reliable, steady power and additionally "eases" the load on RECO's existing generators.
"This is great news", said one tourist I've been working with this week....."we were a bit nervous about investing on the Island....but now it's full steam ahead!". Although many resorts will be using their back up generators more often than not... Kelcy's team is confident that new equipment and better service is "just around the corner". We're blessed at Costa Tesoro to have a 100kw generator and we also supply power to Las Rocas resort beside us. Growing pains are quite the norm for a developing Island so we're used to this and plan in advance. It sure beats shoveling snow though!!!
