In a decision rendered yesterday, the new law being imposed on Honduran drivers by President Mel Zelaya has been ruled unconstitutional. Seems more than 200 petitions were received by the Supreme Court of Honduras and their ruling came swiftly as police frantically tried to implement the one day per week non-driving law.
Reacting to the decision, President Zelaya promised higher gas prices at the pumps as his administration is threatening to no longer subsidize fuel prices. "As long as we have the freedom to drive when we wants to, that's good enough for me", said a taxi driver I spoke with this morning.
