Irish based DIGIGEL, tops the mobile phone business investment into Honduras as they expand their Caribbean presence further into Latin America. Launching their Honduras based company in late 2007, DIGICEL invested a whopping $215 million in 2008 in infrastructure including 3G architecture services.

For the sixth consecutive year, the mobile phone business proves to be the largest investment sector in the country. Tigo, Claro and Digicel are companies that have devoted more resources to expand or launch their 3G services.
The previous year, the inflow of foreign capital into this sector added 489.4 billion dollars, higher than the 282.7 million the previous year. In percentage terms, telecommunications captured 55.8% of total investment into Honduras.
By 2009, it is estimated that the cellular telephone 250 to invest 300 million dollars in its
